Leeds-based Mone Bros, one of the UK’s largest suppliers of plant equipment, building materials and recycling services to the UK construction industry, has added four new tippers to its fleet. Supplied by MAN dealership Steadplan, Leeds, all are MAN 8×4 TGS 35.420 BB models with 12.4-litre straight-six engines producing 309kW (420hp) and with 2.24m wide M cabs.

The new vehicles will work across the Mone Bros four sites and at customer construction projects moving spoil, muck and demolition waste. They will also be used to deliver natural stone, aggregate materials, recycled type 1, top soil, sand, gravel and crusher run material throughout Yorkshire as well as to Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol and London, where Mone Bros supplied the Grit Stone for the Blackfriars Bridge and Blackfriars Station renovation development project.

The 8×4 TGS range is designed for construction-related applications with a lightweight and flexible chassis for use both on and off-road. The vehicles also have the MAN Telematics system fitted to them so that their performance can be monitored.

West Yorkshire-based L Townend fitted them with heavyweight ‘Governor’ bodies, featuring a double-skin steel tipper with a 5mm Hardox floor, 4mm Hardox sides, 2.5mm mild steel outer skin, Hardox top rails and Hardox tail door. They use Harsh HFT149 front-end tipping gear, an electric front to back flip sheeting system, PM1155 4 Cell On-Board Weigh Systems and offer a payload allowance of over 19 tonnes.

“The introduction of our new MAN tippers represents a major step in our fleet expansion and renewal programme,” says the company’s director Phil Mone. “This investment will help us to further reduce our environmental impact, boost our fleet efficiency, grow our service levels and allow us to meet increasing demands.”

Established in 1965 the Mone Brothers is still a family-run business with over 70 operational and managerial staff, offering a diverse range of products and services to the construction industry.

Over the past six months Mone Bros has also taken delivery of a number of other MAN vehicles, including a TGS 35.420 tipper grab, and a further two TGS 35.420 chassis, which are currently with L Townend being bodied. Two more MAN TGS 8×4 chassis are currently in build for delivery later this year.

All four of Mone Bros new TGS’s come with MAN’s standard manufacturer four-year warranty. They are also supported by MAN’s Mobile24 24-hour breakdown service, which guarantees 24/7 emergency roadside assistance 365 days of the year.
